Rock Bullet & Holder Manufacturer and Supplier in India

Metalix Engineering is a Kolkata-based manufacturer and supplier of rock bullets and holders for hydraulic rotary piling rigs used across India. Our rock bullet teeth are engineered with tungsten carbide tips on forged alloy steel bodies, giving them the impact resistance and wear life needed to drill through hard rock, weathered rock, and boulder-laden strata. Every bullet and holder is manufactured to standard shank sizes so they fit directly onto rock augers, core barrels, and drilling buckets from Bauer, Soilmec, IMT, Sany, XCMG, Zoomlion, and Casagrande series rigs.

What is a Rock Bullet and Holder?

A rock bullet is a conical cutting tooth mounted on the leading edge of a rotary drilling tool. The tip is made of sintered tungsten carbide, and the body is forged alloy steel. During drilling, the bullet rotates and shears rock at the point of contact. Because bullets are consumable wear parts, they are held in a replaceable steel base called a holder. When a bullet wears down, the operator drives it out of the holder and inserts a new one, avoiding replacement of the entire drilling tool.

Together, the rock bullet and holder pair form a cutting system that determines how fast and how deep a rotary rig can advance in rock. The right pairing extends tool life, reduces downtime, and lowers cost per meter drilled.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

  • High Wear Resistance Tungsten carbide tip and alloy steel body extend service life.
  • Strong Penetration Bullet-shaped geometry improves cutting efficiency in hard rock.
  • Impact Resistant Designed to withstand high torque and heavy-duty drilling.
  • Customizable Options Size and carbide grade can be tailored to project needs.

Application: Suitable for drilling in strong/middle/weak weathered rock of foundation piles.

  • Material: Tungsten carbide: YG11C, HRC88-92 + 35MnB.
  • Models: B47K17.5H, B47K19H, B47K22H.
  1. The carbide tip uses the low-cobalt material, with bigger carbide tip, with stronger abrasion resistance;
  2. Advanced processing, to guarantee the carbide tips high quality.
  3. The carbide tip has well-distributed micro-particles, with super impact strength, it will make higher force intensity during the drilling, and reduce the risk of breaking or cracking the teeth.

Advantages

  1. The body surface is smooth, less resistance, fast drilling efficiency.
  2. The carbide teeth have multi-step, low probability of partial friction.
  3. Big carbide size, smart and drilling faster.
  4. Customize design.

Why Buy Rock Bullets and Holders from Metalix Engineering

  • Consistent metallurgy. Every batch of bullets is heat treated to the same hardness range, so drilling advance rates stay predictable across replacements.
  • OEM-equivalent fitment. Bullets are machined to standard shank tolerances, which means they drop into existing OEM holders without grinding or shimming.
  • Direct from manufacturer pricing. We manufacture in-house at our Kolkata facility, so there is no intermediary margin. Bulk pricing for project quantities is available.
  • Pan-India dispatch. Orders ship from Kolkata to project sites across India by road freight. Urgent orders can be dispatched within 48 hours from stock.
  • Technical support. If you are unsure which bullet size or holder matches your rig, share the tool part number and our team will confirm the correct fitment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is the difference between a rock bullet and a soil tooth?

A rock bullet has a conical tungsten carbide tip designed for hard rock and weathered rock. A soil tooth has a chisel or flat blade shape designed for soft soil, clay, and sandy strata. Rock bullets are used with rock augers and core barrels. Soil teeth are used with earth augers and soil drilling buckets. The two are not interchangeable, and using a soil tooth on rock will destroy it within a few meters of drilling.

Q2. How long does a rock bullet last?

Bullet life depends on rock hardness, feed pressure, and rig RPM. In medium hard rock, a bullet typically drills between 30 and 80 meters before the carbide tip needs replacement. In very hard rock or abrasive strata, life may drop to 10 to 20 meters per bullet. Correct rig operation and consistent flushing extend bullet life significantly.

Q3. Can I use your rock bullets on a Bauer or Soilmec rig?

Yes. Our bullets are manufactured to standard shank diameters (19 mm, 22 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 38 mm) that match the tooling used on Bauer BG series, Soilmec SR series, IMT, Sany, XCMG, Zoomlion, Casagrande, and Liebherr rotary rigs. If you share the tool part number or a photograph of the current holder, we will confirm fitment before you order.

Q4. Do you sell holders separately from bullets?

Yes. Holders are sold separately and as matched sets with bullets. When a holder wears out or breaks at the weld, you can replace only the holder without changing the entire drilling tool. Send us the shank diameter and the tool make, and we will send the matching holder.

Q5. What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no fixed minimum for standard sizes held in stock. Project quantities of 100 pieces and above qualify for bulk pricing. For custom sizes or non-standard shank types, minimum order quantity is 50 pieces due to manufacturing setup.

Q6. How quickly can you dispatch an order?

Standard sizes in stock ship from our Kolkata facility within 48 hours of order confirmation. Custom sizes typically require 10 to 15 working days for manufacture and dispatch. Urgent orders can be prioritized on request.

Q7. Do you deliver rock bullets across India?

Yes. We ship rock bullets and holders across India by road freight from our Kolkata facility. Recent deliveries have gone to project sites in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Odisha, Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal. Freight is quoted per destination.
